Abstract:
In this talk, I hope to provide an overview of various aspects of shocks in gas dynamics. In particular, I will describe some of the main ideas that go into understanding the formation of a shock and features that arise in systems with multiple speeds, such as the case where the speed of sound is strictly less than the speed of light. This talk involves joint work in progress with Jonathan Luk (Stanford).
